LAST CALL FOR A GREAT FUND

One of the best low-risk stock funds is closing its doors to new investors. After January 30, Arbitrage Fund (ARBFX) will no longer accept new accounts. Launched in September 2000 (at the very start of the bear market), ARBFX has pulled off a spectacular feat. It was solidly profitable in both 2001 (9.3%) and 2002 (8.9%), when most stock funds plunged. Then, when the market turned around in 2003, manager John S. Orrico chalked up a respectable 15.2% total return.
