Waiting for some good news! Stock prices rallied modestly this week with the blue chip Standard & Poor’s 500 index posting a gain of a little over 1%. But the market is still waiting for some good news to propel it out of this low area we’ve been in for the past month.

So it finally happened. The stock market’s Energizer Bunny keeled over. All right, what now?

Legions of investors are groping in the dark, unnerved and uncertain of their next move. Not you and I. We were expecting a timeout for the bull—and we’re taking full advantage of it.

In this month’s visit, I’ll show you how to use the recent unsettled market conditions to fine-tune your portfolio for greater profits. Bargain-priced stocks are popping up all over, including two blue chip stalwarts from our model portfolio that now offer potential returns of 20% or more in the coming year with much lower risk than normal.

I’m also warming again to global investing (a very successful theme of ours in the past couple of years). After a brief absence, we’re back buying China and India, the two most powerful growth engines of the developing world. If you prefer a more diversified approach, I’ve got a pair of globetrotting mutual funds—both among the best in their class—that will take you anywhere you could want to go.

Wall Street’s amazing bull has rejuvenated itself for another romp as stocks are putting on a fresh display of power. This month, I’ll show you how you can keep the profits flowing at a safe, healthy double-digit pace by identifying the rich veins of value still waiting to be mined. Ironically, I’m finding some of the best bargains in an area overcrowded with speculators until just a few months ago—oil and gas, including a pair of names that could leap 50%80% in the next few years. The oil patch is also home to my favorite type of vehicle income right now—master limited partnerships. I’ll point you to my top buy among the bunch and answer some of your nagging questions about MLPs. Also look for a primer on the most attractive stocks and markets overseas. And don’t miss my Tax Savers’ Workshop in this month’s supplement.

This stock market is trying to imitate the “cat with nine lives.” Even the shocking devastation of Hurricane Katrina, coupled with $3 gasoline, has been unable to kill it (so far). At some point, though—maybe soon—the market’s lucky streak will end. Have you got a strategy to help keep your wealth growing when the inevitable “correction” sets in? We do. In this month’s visit, I want to outline it again for you, with some tweaks to meet today’s unique challenges. Hint: The key is to make sure you’re earning a plump, steady income. Call it the “bird in hand” strategy!
